In 2023, India reported 25.5 lakh TB cases, while nearly 1 in 10 people are affected by diabetes. The link between these diseases is a growing concern, as diabetes weakens immunity, increasing TB risk, and TB complicates diabetes management.
A study in Karnataka found 12.5% of TB patients also had diabetes, higher than the national average of 7.7%. This highlights the urgent need for better diagnosis and integrated care to address this dual health burden.
